What types of aggregate do you deliver in the Axarquía?
MURES supplies and delivers hardcore (zahorra) for bases and tracks, gravel for drainage and concrete, pea gravel, sand for mortar and escollera rock for walls and slopes. Each has its use: hardcore is compacted under slabs and paving, gravel is used for drainage and escollera for retaining walls.
How much hardcore do I need for a driveway or slab base?
Multiply the area by the thickness and add around 25–30% for compaction. For example, a 60 m² driveway with a 20 cm base needs about 12 m³ compacted, or around 15 m³ loose. By weight, a cubic metre of loose hardcore is roughly 1.8–2 tonnes.
How much does a cubic metre of gravel, sand or hardcore weigh?
As a guide, a cubic metre of loose hardcore weighs about 1.8–2 tonnes, gravel 1.5–1.7 tonnes and sand 1.5–1.6 tonnes. The exact figure depends on moisture and grading, but it is enough to work out how many lorry loads you need.
What sizes of escollera rock are available?
Escollera rock is graded by weight or size. For garden walls and low banks, 50–300 kg blocks are used; for taller retaining walls, 300–1,000 kg or more. It can also be ordered by dimension, for example 40–60 cm rock. The size depends on the wall height and the pressure of the ground.
Can your lorries reach fincas with narrow tracks?
Yes. Many fincas in the Axarquía have narrow tracks with tight bends or steep gradients. In those cases we deliver with a smaller lorry or in several trips, and if needed we drop at an accessible point and move the material to site with a dumper or digger.
How much does a lorry load of aggregate cost?
It depends on the material, the quantity and the distance from the quarry to your site. Hardcore and gravel are usually the cheapest, while escollera rock is priced per tonne according to size. MURES gives you a fixed price per load or per tonne, delivered.
